Teachers visited Fung Ying Seen Koon to study Quanzhen Temples Taoist Ritual Music

Co-organized by Curriculum Development Institute of Education Bureau and Intangible Cultural Heritage Office, the teacher training activity “Field study on Intangible Cultural Heritage - Quanzhen Temples Taoist Ritual Music” had been held in Fung Ying Seen Koon on 9 January 2017. Senior Curriculum Development Officer Keith Woo, Curator of Intangible Cultural Heritage Office Chau Hing Wah, and the teachers from different secondary schools attended the event. Fung Ying Seen Koon provided guided tour for the visitors to understand the history, deities, and the architecture of the complex. The scripture chanters of Fung Ying Seen Koon performed “Xuanmen Poyu Ke”, dispatching of petition with bugang, chanting “The hymn of Jade Emperor” and “Three Conversions” for the visitors, the commentating of the ritual were conducted by Master Li Sau Man, and Councilor Tang Bo Shan. Through the ritual demonstration, visitors understood the layout and decoration of the altar as well as the chanting of worshipping and extolling to the deities. The chairman of Fung Ying Seen Koon Leung Tak Wah and the assistant treasurer of Fung Ying Seen Koon Selena Young Tseng held the sharing session. Chairman Leung answered the questions about the historical background and the training of scripture chanters related to Fung Ying Seen Koon Quanzhen ritual music, which enhanced the visitors for the understanding of the status of inheritance.
